Congratulations to HCEC PPIE Lead and Management Board member, Dr Llinos Haf Spencer, for receiving the Welsh Language Award for the Medical and Health College at the Welsh Language Awards Ceremony on Wednesday evening 10th April 2024.

Llinos has been assisting old and new Welsh speakers to use their Welsh at Bangor University since she started at Bangor University in 1999 in the School of Psychology as a Teaching Fellow. Llinos now works as a Research Officer at CHEME, in the Public Health Economics team with Professor Rhiannon Tudor Edwards. There, she assists PhD students and other staff to carry out their research work bilingually. Under the leadership of Gwerfyl Roberts and Beryl Cooledge, LLAIS, School of Health Sciences, Llinos has also been part of the linguistic validation process of over 40 Welsh health measures (see the micym.org website) available for clinicians and researchers in Wales.

Llinos said: “I am delighted to receive the honour and that my contribution to the University’s identity as a bilingual University in Wales has been officially recognised. The ceremony was lovely and was presented by Radio Cymru’s DJ, Aled Hughes”.

The trophy and certificate were presented by Professor Enlli Thomas, Bangor University.
